Money Talks Book Review - Chapter 4 Giving

Written by: | Posted on: | Category:

Foremost, the most enjoyable chapter to read; Particularly the stories of generosity that impacted so many lives recently and historically, such as the story of Tabitha in Acts 9:36-42 that carried into the 1800s. So, the two practices I want to “love” into going forward are planning spontaneous giving (personal) and revamping my sermon series on “More Than Enough” (church). My wife and I plan to give together because that’s her passion for celebrating birthdays and Christmas every year. The only tweaking will be giving beyond our immediate family, which is not a stretch because we both love sharing. We will revise our existing budget and discern the size of gifts and bless others as the needs arise. My assistant minister will hold me accountable for the sermon series. I’ve been wanting to revise that sermon series, and with the information and references from Money Talks, I am more than 90% inspired and resourced. Our worship team meets every other month, so we will see when and how this fits into our worship calendar for 2022. I must also say I appreciate the Giving Anonymously Foundation idea. I never knew those organizations existed, and I wanted to give anonymously without risk of being harassed after the fact. I want to be a hilarious giver. Lastly, my most profound takeaway from this chapter is a new appreciation for 2 Corinthians 9:11-13. The words, thanksgiving, overflowing, and others will praise God, spoke to my soul reading it this way. Thank you!
